David Russell Ward, Jr., known affectionately as Dave to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026, in Easley, South Carolina at home with his wife by his side. Born on December 16, 1957, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Dave's life was a testament to his faith, humor, and wisdom, which he generously shared with all who knew him.
Dave leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Shannon Ward, and their cherished children: son Russell Ward and his wife Erica, daughters Holli Ward, Amber McElrath and her husband Chase, and Damaris Wink and her husband Brady. His spirit will live on through his adored grandchildren - Alexis, Delancy, Savannah, Brody, Danika, Micah, Everleigh, Ava, and Tucker. He will also be fondly remembered by his sister Kathy and her husband Bryan, along with his nieces and nephews Denise, Julius, and John.
An alumnus of Amridge University, Dave earned his Master of Science in Ministerial Leadership, which guided his career and personal life. He served his country with distinction in the Air Force for four years as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Mechanic before pursuing a Bachelor's in Computer Science at the University of South Carolina. His professional journey led him to become a respected Business Administrator for Renovations Church, where he was an integral part of the community.
Dave's Christian faith was the cornerstone of his existence. He was a beacon of spiritual guidance, often found reading and teaching financial peace classes at his church, where he inspired many to lead a life of service and devotion. His love for games like Pitt and Canasta brought joy to many gatherings, and his penchant for playing tricks and pranks on his kids and wife will be remembered with smiles and fond stories.
Those who knew Dave would describe him as funny, faith-filled, and wise. His sense of humor was infectious, and his counsel was sought after by those who valued his thoughtful and considered approach to life's challenges. Dave's commitment to his faith and family was unwavering, and his presence was a comfort and blessing to all.
As we bid farewell to a man of great character and joy, we celebrate the life of David Russell Ward, Jr. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his generous spirit. Dave's journey on earth may have concluded, but the impact of his life's work and the love he shared will continue to resonate for generations to come.
