Donna Carrick
Londoño
July 8, 1945 – April 9, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Donna Carrick (previously Donna Carrick Londoño) on April 9, 2026 at the age of 80 in Greenville, South Carolina.
Donna was born on July 8, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her father, John Richard Carrick and her mother, Florence Carrick. She is survived by her two sons, Nicolas Londoño and Damian Londoño, her three young grandchildren (Marcel Londoño, Maya Londoño, and Alana Londoño), her ex-husband Alejandro Londoño, and her brother, Ronnie Carrick.
Donna was a devoted wife, loving mother, dedicated teacher, and simply a gentle and wonderful human being. Her adventure of life started in Maryland where she had fond memories of growing up in Cottage City, weekends in Arden on the Severn, and attending the University of Maryland. It then took her to Chicago, IL, where she worked for Encyclopedia Britannica Education Corporation and where she met Alejandro. From there, she would move to Miami, FL where they lived briefly on their boat called Gaitana before settling down on dry land after the birth of her two sons. In retirement she moved up to Greenville to be closer to her granddaughters, enjoy cooler weather and the beautiful Appalachian mountain nature.
Despite experiencing setbacks and challenges, she eventually completed her bachelor's degree in English from the University of Maryland, a testament to her determination and perseverance. Throughout her long career in education and teaching she touched lives of countless people. The most notable of which were those of her two sons, whom she homeschooled until roughly high school age, and during which were some of the happiest years of her life.
Donna enjoyed travel both near and far, visiting with longtime friends, being active and exploring nature, and most importantly spending time with her sons and grandchildren. She loved to converse with people, whether you were old friends or someone she had just met. And she was passionate about helping others and wanting to make a positive impact on the world, which she did through her donations to charitable causes and political advocacy. It is because of all these qualities and more, that she will be remembered by those that love her as a kind and considerate person.
In keeping with Donna’s wishes, she will be cremated and there are no plans for a service at this time. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that you celebrate her life in other ways. As Donna loved to write to people, if you have any thoughts or fond memories you would like to share you can write to 400 S Main St #541 Travelers Rest, SC 29690. You can also honor her memory by donating to a philanthropic or environmental cause of your choice, planting a tree, or by taking some other small action to make the world a better place for those that follow her.
