Doris Lowery

Doris Lowery, lovingly known as Doris, was born on August 17, 1945, in McClurin, Mississippi, and passed away on July 26, 2026, in Greenville, South Carolina.

Doris lived a life marked by love, faith, and devotion to those around her. She was a loving, spirited, and generous woman whose presence brought warmth and comfort to her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Throughout her life, she carried herself with grace and strength, remaining deeply committed to the values that shaped her journey. Her life was a reflection of kindness, resilience, and unwavering care for others.

Doris served faithfully in her work and in her community. She worked as a Teacher’s Assistant, where her patience and encouragement made a lasting difference in the lives of many. She also held a Pastoral License, a reflection of her deep faith and devotion to serving God and her church community. Her spiritual life was an important part of who she was, and she found great joy in attending church and walking in faith.

She enjoyed the simple blessings of life and embraced each day with gratitude. Doris loved fishing, cooking, shopping, and spending time with family and friends. She especially treasured the moments shared with those closest to her, and she found comfort in the companionship of her beloved dog, Rueben. Whether gathered around a meal, enjoying time outdoors, or sharing laughter with loved ones, Doris made ordinary moments feel special.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Lowery Sr.; her daughter, Claudette Thompson; and three brothers and three sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Samuel Lowery Jr., and his wife, Brandy; her grandson, Samuel Javon Lowery; her granddaughter, Ashlynn Willow Lowery; her grandson, Brandon McSwain; her grandson, Dominick Hatten, and his wife, Monique; her grandson, Dominque Hatten; her granddaughter, Iylania Abercrombie; her granddaughter, Bonnie Collier; her granddaughter, Skyler Collier; her granddaughter, Michelle Hambrick; her great‑grandson, Dorian Martin; her great‑granddaughter, Naomi Martin; her grandson, Ervin Thompson Jr.; her great‑granddaughter, E’Miya Thompson; and her brother, Rev. Joe L. Brown, and his wife, Toye Randle‑Brown. She also leaves behind a host of family members and friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.

Doris will be remembered for the love she shared so freely, the faith she lived so openly, and the gentle strength she carried throughout her life. Her legacy will continue through the many lives she touched, the lessons she taught by example, and the memories that will remain with her family for years to come. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, and her memory will be cherished always.
