Eleanor Thompson

May 26, 1935 — February 27, 2024

On February 27, 2024, Eleanor (Ellie) Thompson beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away at 88. She was born in Derry NH to the late Florence and Louis Dumont. Eleanor also known as “Ellie” was an Author, Pianist, Registered Nurse, Art Therapist, and Licensed Mental Health Counselor. She graduated with her Master of Science from Drake University in Des Moines, IA at 57.  Ellie married her high school sweetheart, Carl H. Thompson otherwise known as “Pete” on August 22, 1959. Together they raised two daughters, Justine and Julie.

Ellie was a gifted organist and pianist, generously sharing her musical talents with others. She was a mentor in Al-Anon for over 40 years providing unwavering support and guidance. She deeply loved nature and enjoyed traveling long swims and cherishing moments spent with her beloved pets. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Ellie was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Louis Dumont; her siblings, Henry Dumont, Leona DesRosier, Doris Payuk, Marilyn Hmielewski, and Robert Dumont, along with her beloved husband Carl Thompson. She is survived by her two daughters Justine (Bob) Allison of Simpsonville SC, and Julie (Timothy) Lefler of West Des Moines IA, along with her four grandchildren Chad Porell of Lyman SC, Sid Allison of Allston MA, Nicholas (Clare) Lefler of West Des Moines IA, and Jessica (Andy) Miranda of Des Moines IA.

Please join us in celebrating the lives of both Eleanor and Carl Thompson on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry St., Hudson, NH at 10:30 am followed by a service at 11:30 am. The burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Londonderry, NH at 1:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Ellie can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, at alz.org or Alzheimer's Association, Attn: SC Gift Processing, 4600 Park Rd., Ste. 250, Charlotte NC 28209.  The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at NHC Mauldin for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Ellie during her time there.
