Emma Josephine Fisher, known lovingly to family and friends as Jo, passed away on October 2, 2026, in Waterloo, South Carolina, at the age of 82.
She was born on March 8, 1944, in Abbeville, South Carolina, and lived a life marked by devotion to her family, steady faith, and a generous spirit that touched all who knew her. Jo was a woman of warmth and kindness, and she will be remembered for the love she gave so freely and the strength she carried throughout her life.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Emma Harrison, as well as her brothers Lawrence Taylor and Freddie Harrison, and her sister Shirley Nix. She was also preceded in death by family members who held a special place in her heart and whose memories remained with her throughout her life.
She is survived by her husband, William Fisher, who shared in her life and many treasured years. She also leaves behind her daughters, Tammy Allen and Anita Clardy and her husband Robert, who will carry forward her memory with love and gratitude. Her surviving siblings include Jean Strom, Connie Bryant and her husband Ferrel, Vicki Kontalonis and her husband Perry, and her brother Travis Harrison and his wife Deborah. Jo is also survived by six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were deeply loved and brought her great joy.
Jo spent 32 years working in the textile industry, where she was known for her dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic. She took pride in her work and understood the value of perseverance and responsibility. Her long career reflected the same steady character that defined her life at home, where she gave her best to her family and those around her each day.
Outside of work, Jo enjoyed camping and traveling, and she cherished opportunities to see new places and make lasting memories. These interests brought her happiness and reflected her appreciation for life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. Whether near home or on the road, she found joy in time spent with loved ones and in the beauty of shared experiences.
Jo will be remembered as a loving, faith-filled, and generous woman whose presence brought comfort and encouragement to others. Her faith was an important part of her life and gave her strength in both good times and difficult seasons. She lived with grace and compassion, and her example of kindness will remain in the hearts of those who knew her best.
Her family and friends will forever treasure the memories they shared with her, and her legacy will live on through the generations that follow. Though she is no longer here in body, the love she gave, the lessons she taught, and the faith she lived by will continue to guide and inspire those who loved her.
