Eric Nicholas Leininger, known to many simply as Eric, passed away on July 8, 2026, in Greenville, South Carolina, at the age of 68. He was born on July 3, 1958, in Plainfield, New Jersey, and lived a life marked by kindness, friendship, and quiet courage. Those who knew him will remember a man who met life with steadiness and warmth, and who left a lasting impression on family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of crossing his path.

Eric was the kind of person who made others feel welcome. He had a friendly nature and an easy manner that put people at ease, and he carried himself with a gentle dignity that reflected his character. He was known as someone who could be counted on, someone who offered support without needing recognition, and someone whose presence brought comfort to those around him. His life was a testament to the value of simple goodness, loyalty, and perseverance.

A skilled electronics technician, Eric devoted many years of his working life to Plus, Inc., where he was respected for his knowledge, dependability, strong work ethic and was treated like family. He approached his work with care and professionalism, and he took pride in doing things well.

Outside of work, Eric found joy in the things that made life rich and personal. As a young man, he enjoyed bicycle riding, a pastime that reflected his love of movement, freedom, and the open road. That sense of adventure remained part of who he was throughout his life. He also had a deep affection for his pets, Kylie and Lucky, who were cherished companions and brought him comfort and happiness. His love for animals was one more reflection of his tender heart and his capacity for care.

Eric was a beloved brother to his sister, Kristina Burton, and a cherished nephew to his aunt, Nia Scobey. He was also a treasured member of a large extended family that included many cousins, all of whom shared in the bond of his life and memory. In addition to his family, he leaves behind numerous friends who valued his companionship and will long remember his kindness, his humor, and his unwavering spirit. The relationships he built over the years were grounded in sincerity, and he remained a steady and meaningful presence in the lives of those who knew him best.

The words kind, friendly, and courageous describe Eric well. He faced life with a generous heart and a quiet strength that inspired others. Even in difficult times, he carried himself with grace and resilience. His courage was not loud or boastful, but thoughtful and enduring, shown in the way he lived each day and in the way he cared for the people and animals he loved.

Eric’s passing leaves a deep sense of loss, but his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be remembered for his warmth, his steadfast nature, and the many ways he enriched the lives of others. Though he is no longer physically present, the legacy of his kindness and the example of his life will remain.

He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
