Evelyn Juanita Anders, known affectionately to all as Evelyn, embarked on her final adventure on November 14, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and generosity that could light up the darkest room. Born on December 15, 1939, in Greenville, SC, she lived a life that was vibrant and spirited.
Evelyn's journey began in the same town where she would later become a local legend at Skateland USA. For 36 years, she laced up her skates and glided through her career with the grace of a swan and the wit of a stand-up comedian. She wasn't just the life and soul of the party; she was the disco ball that kept the party going.
Evelyn's love for books was only rivaled by her love for a good yard sale. She could haggle over a hardback with the best of them and always came home with treasures that were one part mystery, two parts memoir, and a sprinkle of romance. Her bookshelves were as eclectic as her sense of humor, and she could always recommend the perfect read to lift your spirits.
Her family was her pride and joy, and she leaves behind a tapestry of memories with her beloved late husband Clyde Anders, her son James Mathis, and her daughter Debbie Evans. Evelyn's legacy continues through her granddaughters, Brandy Dawkins and Lindsay Roach, and her great-granddaughter, Gianna Dawkins, who have all inherited her zest for life and her ability to find joy in the little things.
Evelyn was the epitome of funny, generous, and selfless. She gave without expecting anything in return and loved without conditions. Her laughter was a melody that will echo in the hearts of those who knew her, and her spirit was a beacon of light that will continue to guide us through the tough times.
We celebrate a life well-lived and a woman well-loved. She may have taken her final curtain call, but the show of her life will go on in the stories we share, the jokes we retell, and the love we continue to spread in her honor.
