Gary Wray Mizner — husband, dad, grandpa, brother and friend passed away on November 11, 2025, in Greenwood, South Carolina. He was born January 19, 1959, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, and spent his life proving that a good laugh, a strong work ethic, and a well-cut lawn can get you through just about anything.
Gary was the beloved husband of the late Jennifer (Esparza) Mizner. They were married for 24 years — filled with love, laughter and endless home improvement projects. Together, they raised three amazing daughters: Daphne (Jay) Duplessis, Rochelle (Calvin) Brown, and Nina (Chad) Abrams. He was also the proud grandpa of Devin, Andrew, Ayden, Trinity, Landen, Brody, Jase, and Emmarie — a crew that kept him laughing, busy, and occasionally questioning his sanity.
The son of Merle Keith and Reta Marie (Winans) Mizner, both of whom predeceased him, Gary grew up in Vernon, Ohio. His siblings James Mizner of Cortland, OH, Thomas Mizner of Albuquerque, NM, Jeffrey Mizner of FL, Nancy Mizner of Houston, TX, and Margaret (Mizner) Harvey of Andover, OH survive him.
A graduate of Joseph Badger High School, Gary spent over 40 years as a machinist — first at Parker Hannifin in Ohio, then Acutec in Pennsylvania, and finally Bosch in South Carolina. He was precise, hardworking, and always ready to offer “constructive criticism” (whether you asked for it or not).
His sense of humor was unmatched — equal parts sarcasm and charm — the kind of humor that left people laughing and shaking their heads at the same time. He loved golf, building things with his hands, and keeping his yard in top shape — even if it meant grumbling about anyone who didn’t mow properly.
Gary leaves behind a lifetime of laughter and love that will live on in the memories of all who ever met him. He lived life his own way: with humor, stubbornness, and a cold Bud Light
