Geraldine "Gigi" Gendron, a beacon of love and laughter, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, in Greenville, SC, at 93. Born on November 8, 1931, in Chicago, IL, to the late Franklin D. Walberg and Beatrice M. Welberg, Gigi was a vibrant soul who brought joy to everyone she encountered.
Gigi's life was a rich tapestry of creativity and passion. She earned a Fine Arts Degree from the Art Institute of Chicago, which laid the foundation for her successful career as an artist and model. Her artwork, characterized by its vivid colors and emotional depth, was admired by many. Gigi loved selling fashion, it was fun for her to use all of her creative & modeling skills to make a customer happy. Gigi's grace and poise as a model were matched only by her skill and dedication as a homemaker, creating a warm and inviting home filled with love and laughter.
Her interests were as varied as her talents. An avid reader, Gigi could often be found with a book in hand, lost in the pages of a captivating story. She moved through life with the rhythm of music, her love for dancing as evident at family gatherings as it was on the dance floor. The beach was her sanctuary, a place where she felt at one with the waves and the sand. Gigi's compassion extended to all living creatures, and her care for animals was a testament to her gentle spirit.
Gigi's memory will be cherished by her loving family. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Karen Gendron Nionquit; her son, Curtis Henri Gendron; her granddaughter, Chloe Lee Nionquit; her son and daughter-in-law, Luc and Anna Nionquit; and her great-grandson, Luc L. Nionquit. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henri Roderick Gendron, and her parents.
Those who knew Gigi will remember her as loving, funny, and intelligent. Her laughter was infectious, her wit sharp, and her intellect profound. She had a unique ability to see the beauty in the world and the people around her, and she shared that beauty generously.
