Grace Marie Simmons, affectionately known as Marie, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026. Born on December 4, 1948, she was a woman whose life was marked by warmth, compassion, and an indomitable spirit. Those who knew her remember her as caring, loving, spirited, funny, and friendly—a combination that endeared her to family and friends alike.
Marie had a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life, especially the tranquility of the beach and the adventure of camping. These activities reflected her love of nature and her zest for sharing memorable moments with those she cherished.
She is survived by her loving sister, Barbara Jean Garrett, and sister Annie Masters, who stood by her throughout her life. Her memory will forever be treasured by her daughter Rebecca Taylor and her grandchildren—Shanda Kelley, Kendall Kelley, Brittney Mullinax, Khelcey Hunt, and Alyssia Wilson. The laughter and stories of ten great-grandchildren also carry forward the legacy of Marie’s boundless love and devotion.
Marie was preceded in death by her sister, Genevieve Cline, her brother, Marvin Gregory, and her daughters Janice Simmons and Laura Mullinax. Their memories remain an integral part of the family tapestry, woven with threads of enduring love and remembrance.
