Grady Lloyd Ferguson, Jr., born on December 2, 1952, passed away at his daughter's home on January 26, 2026. Known affectionately as Buddy, he lived a life characterized by dedication, hard work, and an unwavering enthusiasm for his passions.
Buddy enjoyed a multifaceted career, working as a truck driver and positioning himself as a jack of all trades. His relentless pursuit of his goals was a testament to his determined spirit. He achieved numerous milestones in his life, showcasing his commitment to both his professional and personal endeavors.
A man of many interests, he was an avid NASCAR fan who relished the thrill of the race. He also took great joy in riding his Harley with his grandsons, creating unforgettable memories on the open road. Family outings often included trips to the lake, where he cherished time spent with loved ones. True to his Southern roots, he had a special fondness for Waffle House, where he would often order a 1/4 cheese plate with tomato only and a real pack of mayo, enjoyed with a sweet tea in a to-go cup. His love for short track racing further reflected his adventurous spirit.
Buddy's legacy is carried on by his loving family, including his children, Cynthia Apolinar, Joshua Strickland (Katrina), Carole Strickland and Josie Hudson (James Jenkins). He was a grandfather to Justin Davis, Brittney Davis, Cameron Winchester, Kaitlyn Strickland (Aiden), Olivia Strickland, Nichole Strickland, Lil Josh Reid (Angel), Dale Hall (Brianna), Dai-Dai Tabron (Shania), Aleyia Alaney (Jamaico), Ambriya "Jada" Tabron . Additionally, Grady’s numerous great-grandchildren brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Jones, a special niece, Lauri Ferguson, his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, his 29 great grandkids, and his two furbabies, Spot and G. Ralph.
He was preceded in death by his life partner of over 20 years, Gwen Durham, his daughter, Angela Ferguson, his parents, Grady and Helen Ferguson, and his sisters, Carolyn Deaton, Lois Hyatt, and Faye Ferguson.
Receiving of friends will take place on February 5, 2026, at the Cremation Society of SC - Westville Funerals in Greenville, South Carolina, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Following this, a memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM.
Grady Lloyd Ferguson, Jr. leaves behind a rich legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
