July 25, 1965 — June 3, 2024

Greenville, SC

Herman Tyrus Pryor, affectionately known as Tyrus to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2024, in Greenville, SC. Born on July 25, 1965, in Union, SC, Tyrus was a beacon of joy and kindness to all who knew him.

Tyrus led a life marked by dedication and love, beginning his educational journey at Greenville Technical College where he earned an Associate degree in Business in 1985. His thirst for knowledge and self-improvement led him back to Greenville Tech in 1991 to complete Truck Driving Training, a skill that would serve him well throughout his career. Tyrus's professional life was characterized by his long-standing commitment to excellence and hard work. He spent 21 years at the Timken Company in Clinton, SC, before moving on to a rewarding 16-year tenure at General Electric in Greenville, SC.

Outside of work, Tyrus's passion for football was undeniable, and he could often be found cheering on his beloved Chicago Bears. His love for the game was only matched by his love for his family. Tyrus was a loving husband to his wife, Kimberly Pryor, and a devoted father to his sons, Quentin and Zachary Pryor. He was a cherished son to his mother, Rosa Mae Pryor, and a caring brother to his sisters, Robin Pryor and Lisa Richardson (Ivy). Tyrus was also a respected son-in-law to Queenesta Philson and a fun-loving uncle to his nieces, Erin Saunders and Katlyn George. Though preceded in death by his father, Herman Pryor, and his grandparents, Jurell, Marie, Gladys, and James Byrd, the legacy of their familial bond lived on through Tyrus's actions and the stories he shared.

Those who knew Tyrus will remember him as a man with a heart full of love, a spirit of generosity, and a sense of humor that could light up the darkest of rooms. His thoughtfulness knew no bounds, and he was always the first to offer help to friends and strangers alike. Tyrus will be remembered for his ability to find the joy in every situation and for his unwavering commitment to his family and community.

As we bid farewell to Tyrus, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and joy. His memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him. Tyrus's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever be etched in the hearts of his loved ones.

A traditional service to honor the life and memory of Herman Tyrus Pryor will be held, allowing family, friends, and colleagues to gather and share the many cherished moments they had with him. Tyrus's presence will be profoundly missed, but the memories he created will continue to provide comfort and joy to all who were touched by his extraordinary life.

In his passing, Tyrus leaves behind a world that is brighter for his having been in it, and a family that will carry forward the values of love, humor, and thoughtfulness he embodied so perfectly. As we reflect on his life, we are reminded of the profound impact one individual can have on so many, simply by being themselves and living with intention and compassion.

Rest in peace, Tyrus. Your journey here may have ended, but the path you've left behind will guide us forevermore.
