Howard Franklin Moore passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, at the age of 91, following a brief illness at Piedmont Post Acute. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elaine Berick Moore, formerly of Detroit, Michigan.
Howard is survived by his children: Larry F. Moore (Sylvia) and David H. Moore, both of Greenville, South Carolina; Cathy Luker (Gerald) of Piedmont, South Carolina; and Kelly-Jean Moore (Justin) of Charleston, South Carolina.
He is also survived by his stepchildren: Gary Brooks (Trish) of Maryland; Tony Brooks (Renee) of Georgia; and Gale Parker (Aubrey) of Anderson, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Moore (Sonya) of Hillsborough, North Carolina; his daughters, Terri Picklesmire (David) of Piedmont, South Carolina, and Bonny Davis of Greenville, South Carolina; and his stepdaughter, Audrey Brooks Felmet of Columbia, South Carolina.
Howard lived a full and adventurous life. As a young man, he proudly served in the United States Navy, traveling the world aboard naval vessels. Following his military service, he earned an engineering degree and later became a licensed pilot. He was an avid golfer, a dedicated gardener, and a passionate sports fan—especially of the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Howard enjoyed a long and successful career as an engineer with Westinghouse Nuclear Power before retiring. He and Elaine spent many happy years in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, enjoying retirement together before returning to the Upstate to be closer to family. They spent their final years surrounded by the love and support of those who meant the most to them.
In addition to his children and stepchildren, Howard leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and more than 30 great-great-grandchildren.
Howard will be remembered for his adventurous spirit and the many lives he touched throughout his 91 years.
