Jack "Tim" McKinney, a beloved retired firefighter and cherished member of the Greenville community, departed this life on March 5, 2026, after a brief illness. Born on June 17, 1960, in Greenville, South Carolina, Tim dedicated his life to serving others, exemplified through his commendable career at the Parker District Fire Department. His bravery and commitment to safety were matched only by the love he fostered within his family.
Tim was a loving father, grandfather, and spouse, whose warmth and affection radiated through every interaction. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sherry McKinney `nee Taylor, and their children, Jacqueline (Nikki) Simmons (Kevin), Jack T. McKinney (Tiffany), his mother Julia McKinney `nee Sanders, and his brothers ,Greg Mckinney (Renee) and Eric (Tab) McKinney. Tim was blessed with grandchildren who brought him immense joy: Jackson Mosley, Hayden Grace Simmons, Gage Simmons, and Zander McKinney.
Tim's legacy lives on in the lives he touched as a father and grandfather, leaving behind not only cherished memories but also invaluable lessons of kindness and bravery. He is preceded in death by his father, Jack D. McKinney, who welcomed him into eternal rest.
The family takes solace in the love and support shared by those who knew Tim, remembering the laughter and warmth of a truly remarkable man. His spirit will forever remain a guiding light to his family and friends, who will deeply miss his presence.
