In Loving Memory of James Douglas Cushman
July 21, 1945 – July 28, 2025
James “Jim” Douglas Cushman, age 80, peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on July 28, 2025.
Born on July 21, 1945, in Mexico, New York, Jim was the son of William and Doris Cushman. He grew up with his sister, Sandra Sutton, who survives him.
Jim dedicated his life to education and to Christ-centered service. He began his career teaching in public schools before following a calling to Christian education in 1970. From then until his retirement in 2006, Jim faithfully taught and served as an administrator in Christian day schools, impacting generations of students with his love for learning and unwavering commitment to biblical values.
A man of many interests, Jim enjoyed watching college football, hunting small game, fishing, and crafting handmade wooden pens. But above all, he cherished time with his family, especially during celebrations and gatherings that brought everyone together.
Jim was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Beulah, for 57 years. Together, they raised four children:
• Theresa (Scott) Case
• Timothy (Jennie) Cushman
• Kathleen (Brian) Noblitt
• Stephen (Jessica) Cushman
He was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren and great-grandfather to four great-grandsons.
Jim’s legacy is one of faith, service, and love. Though his absence will be deeply felt, we rejoice in the hope and promise of Heaven, where we will see him again.
A celebration of life service will be held on August 8, 2025, at 7:00 PM, at Northside Baptist Church, 515 Tindal Road, Greenville, SC, 29617. Friends are cordially invited to attend the service.
