James was the son of James Junior Lee and the late Ida Hazel Lee, and is survived by his family, including his sister Wanda Cruell (Tony), his brother George Lee (Cathy), his niece Angel Christine Lee, his nephew Cameron Alexander Cruell, and many cousins. He was also a nephew to his Aunt Georgia and Uncle Robert Moore.

For those who knew him, James was the epitome of reliability, a trait that he carried into his professional life as a lifetime truck driver.
