Janet Cook Isaac

Janet Cook Isaac, cherished friend and beloved mother, passed away on September 20, 2026, in Greenville, South Carolina, at the age of 85.

Janet was born in Onieda, New York, and attended Cazenovia High School and College. She married and had three children before moving to Melbourne, Florida, to be closer to her parents and sister. While living in Florida, Janet returned to college and earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Central Florida.

For several decades, Janet devoted herself to supporting individuals and families at the end of life as a hospice social worker. After retiring, she moved to South Carolina, where she continued helping others by guiding them through the process of earning their social work certification.

Janet was an active member of Disciples United Methodist Church in Greenville, where she deeply loved her pastor, Sunday school group, and the fellowship shared after services. She was inspired to give back to the Greenville community she loved and treasured the family she created through her friendships and church relationships.

Janet loved to read and enjoyed participating in book clubs. She also loved traveling, staying engaged in politics, practicing yoga, keeping in touch with distant friends through Facebook, hanging out by the pool with her “bestie”, attending cultural events, walking in nature, and spending time with her dogs.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Pauline Cook of Cazenovia and her beloved husband, Al Isaac. She is survived by her sister Karen Brown, her four children: Craig Dennis (Karen), Mark Dennis (Sarah), LeeAnne Lake (Scott), and stepdaughter Susan Lomas (Tom). She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Janet sought to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of compassion, service, friendship, and love, as well as many friends who cherished her dearly.

The funeral will be held at Discipled United Methodist Church in Greenville, SC on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
