Jesse J. Evett, known affectionately as Jesse, age 81, of Easley, SC, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 15, 2024. Born on June 28, 1942, in the same town that he would later breathe his last, Jesse was a man who carried the essence of his Southern roots with grace and dignity throughout his entire life.

Jesse was predeceased by his parents, Charlie J. Evett and Martha Julian Evett, as well as his siblings Martha Reynold, Charles Evett, Gene Meece, James Sloan, and Roger D. Evett. He leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment, embodied by his devoted and caring wife of many years, Mary Ann Evett, his soulmate and confidante. Jesse's memory will be cherished by his children, Misty Jones (Stacy) and Barry Evett (Denise), as well as his sister, Shelby Howell. His light will continue to shine through his grandchildren, Matt Davis, Whitney Evett, Jesse D. Evett, Alesha Merrell, and 8 wonderful great grandchildren, whose lives he touched with his wisdom and kindness.

Jesse was a proud alumnus of Clemson University, where he laid the foundations for a life of intellectual curiosity and achievement. His dedication to his country was evident through his distinguished service as a U.S. Army Paratrooper in the Special Forces. Jesse's commitment to excellence continued in his professional life, where he devoted 30 years to Michelin Tires, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues for his integrity and work ethic.

Those who knew Jesse understood that his heart was as vast as the sky he loved to study. An avid golfer, he found joy in the fairways and greens of the courses he played, always striving to improve his game. Jesse's passion for woodworking allowed him to express his creativity, crafting pieces that were not only functional but also infused with the love and care of their maker. His intellectual pursuits did not stop with his hands; he was also a student of the stars, delving into astronomy and physics, and exploring various religions, seeking to understand the world in all its complexity.
