Joan Bisceglia Adams

February 3, 1932 — February 5, 2024

Joan Bisceglia Adams, 91, died peacefully on February 5 in Travelers Rest,
South Carolina. Ms. Adams has been a resident of Travelers Rest since
2013, and came to Greenville, South Carolina about 30 years ago.

Joan was a creative, intelligent, quick-witted, and fiercely independent
woman. She lived alone in the house she designed until just a few months
before her death, with only sporadic household assistance.

She was born in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania on February 3, 1932. Her
father, Elias Bisceglia, was an optometrist, and her mother, E. Blanche
Duncan Bisceglia, kept the house as was customary in those days.

Joan graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of
Science in Occupational Therapy in June 1954, when she was 22.
Thereafter, she practiced this profession diligently and with many
accolades until she was well into her 70s.

Ms. Adams was an enthusiastic collector of art, ceramics, and antiques,
including an extensive collection of antique clocks. She was also an
excellent cook and hostess in her younger days. She loved animals and
had a pet nearly all her life.

She was one of five children, the only girl. All of her brothers predeceased
her, so she leaves only nieces and nephews: Craig F. Bisceglia, Brian Bisceglia, Blase Bisceglia, Tommy Bisceglia, Sean Bisceglia, Stacey Bisceglia, Bronya Strosnider, Kelly Bridgeman, Karen Hickey, Charlene Barnard and great-nephew Nicholas Bisceglia.

Joan asked that there be no memorial service for her, but gifts may be
made in her honor to the Greenville Humane Society or to the Greenville County Animal shelter
