John Kimbal Calhoun, passed away after a brief but difficult struggle with cancer on December 25, 2025, in Greenville, South Carolina, leaving behind a legacy rich in kindness, humor, and intelligence. Born on February 24, 1949, he was loved and respected by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Kim's career as an aviation planner showcased his meticulous nature and sharp intellect. He poured his heart and expertise into his work, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and community members alike. His professional accomplishments were impressive, yet it was his personal qualities that truly defined him. Known for his kind spirit and unassuming dry wit, Kim made every challenge easier to face.

Beyond his professional life, Kim had a diverse array of interests. Music, his greatest love was always around and his knowledge of artists and lyrics was encyclopedic. He found joy in photography, capturing life's fleeting moments with an artist's eye. Travel fed his curiosity as he explored new horizons and created memories that he cherished. An avid reader, Kim immersed himself in stories that transported him to different worlds, and his love for Fantasy Football and the Auburn University Tigers added an extra layer of excitement to his life, creating bonds and friendly rivalries with family and friends.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 31 years, Beverly Jane Calhoun. Together, they nurtured a family that was the center of Kim's universe. His daughter, Teresa Poinsett (Don), along with his stepsons Randy Edge (Jamee) and Daniel Edge, carry forward his spirit and values. He took immense pride in being a grandfather to Annabel, DJ, Erin, Sarah, Kallie, Amelia, Ellorie, and Jolia, filling his heart with joy as he watched them grow and flourish.

Kim is survived by his siblings, Lynn Calhoun, Craig Calhoun, Jim Calhoun (Rose), and Jean Michler (Carl). The warmth and laughter of family gatherings will be forever cherished, echoing with memories of his witty humor and authenticity.

As we bid farewell to Kim, we reflect on a life well-lived—a life filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable moments. His spirit will continue to inspire those he leaves behind, reminding us all to approach life with kindness and an open heart.
