John Kay, 60, of Travelers Rest, SC died September 25, 2017 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born October 23rd in Greenville, he was a son of the late Harold & Sara Kay
John was a 1974 graduate of Berea High School, continuing his education at Clemson University where he graduated with Honors and a Bachelors of Arts degree. He pursued a career in nursing and became a Registered Nurse working in Home Health Care.
John is survived by his wife, Cassandra; 3 step-children, Montina McMorris, Santina McGilvery, and Kelly Ortiz; 2 brothers, Harold & Terry Kay; a nephew, Josh Kay; a niece, Danielle Blumer; 3 grandchildren; and 3 special nephews, Andrew, Matthew, and Ryan Kay.
John was a great listener, and had the ability to empathize with almost anyone. He was a quiet and gentle soul, and was loved by all. Guitars, reading, and Clemson Football were his passions. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at Westside Park, 2700 W. Blue Ridge Drive, Greenville, SC 29611.
The Cremation Society of SC-Westville Funerals is assisting the family.
