John Thomas Painter, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished member of his community, passed away on May 13, 2026. Born on March 23, 1936, John lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and a steadfast dedication to his family and passions.

John was widely known by his CB handle, "Chilly Dipper," a nickname that accompanied him during his years as a truck driver. His career behind the wheel was characterized by his reliability and the respect he garnered from colleagues and friends alike. Beyond his professional life, John’s personality truly shown—he was loving and kind, always placing the well-being of others above his own.

A man of varied interests, John deeply enjoyed golf, spending time with his family, and engaging in video games, activities that brought him much joy and connection throughout his life. Above all, John loved his wife Brenda Painter, to whom he was married for 36 wonderful years, sharing a bond filled with love and mutual support.

John’s family was the central pillar of his life. He is survived by his beloved wife Brenda; his son William (Nicole) Smith of Greenville, and his daughter Sheila Painter of Taylors. John also leaves behind a devoted sister, Georgeanne (Dale) Peters, as well as five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom cherished his guidance and warmth.

His memory will also be honored alongside those who preceded him in death: his dear daughter Patricia Painter, his son Johnny Painter, his brother Jimmy Painter, and a cherished grandchild. Their legacies remain intertwined with John’s, and the family finds solace in their enduring bonds.

John Thomas Painter’s life was a testament to the power of love and kindness. He will be remembered not only for his strength and dedication but also for the gentleness and affection he extended to all who knew him. His legacy endures in his family, whose lives he enriched with unwavering devotion.
