John Andrew Prior, born on March 28, 1966, in Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on March 20, 2026, in Landrum, South Carolina. He leaves behind a legacy marked by kindness, intelligence, and a gentle spirit that touched all who knew him.

John was widely recognized as the co-owner of A Roxbury Goat Barn, affectionately known as the “goat guy,” a testament not only to his entrepreneurial spirit but also to his innovative approach and passion for nature. His love for the outdoors was evident in his personal pursuits as well, enjoying hunting, fishing, and all manner of outdoor activities that connected him deeply to the natural world around him.

Known for his loving and handy nature, John was a man of great heart and determination. His intelligence and passion were evident in every facet of his life, inspiring those who were privileged to be part of his circle. His gentle demeanor and kind soul made him a steadfast friend and a devoted family man.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Marnie Prior, and his sons Jimmy Prior and his wife Ashley, and Brendan Prior along with his wife Kelsey. He was a cherished grandfather to Brendan and Ellie Prior, whose lives he enriched with his warmth and love. He also leaves behind his mother, Phillis Prior, who gave him the foundation for a life well-lived, and a sister, Marguerite E. McGuigan. 

He was preceded in death by his father, John Prior, whose memory remains a guiding presence.

John Andrew Prior’s life was a beautiful reflection of love, dedication, and the pursuit of his passions. His presence will be deeply missed by all who loved him, yet his spirit will continue to inspire and resonate through the lives he touched.
