John Elwood Riley III, known affectionately to friends and family as JR, passed away on September 12, 2025, in Anderson, South Carolina. Born on May 29, 1965, in Albany, Georgia, JR's journey through life was marked by his loving nature, friendly demeanor, and intelligent mind.

JR was predeceased by his sister, Misty Hazard, his mother, Marie Elise Collyer, and his father, John Elwood Riley Jr. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his sons Kevin Hatcher and, Jason Rogers of Belton, SC, his daughter Tasha Murphy of Williamston, SC, his three grandchildren and one great grandchild, and his longtime girlfriend, Jarilyn Daniluk, his nephew, Kenny Riley of Anderson, SC, his nephew, Austin Hazard of NC, and his nieces, Kimberly and April McElrath of Anderson, SC.

For many years, JR dedicated his professional life to Gale Contractor Services in Piedmont, SC, where he was known for his strong work ethic and his ability to connect with colleagues and clients alike. His professional contributions were significant, and he was respected by all who had the pleasure of working alongside him.

JR's passions extended beyond his work. He was an avid gamer, finding joy and camaraderie in the virtual worlds he explored. His love for animals was profound, especially for his beloved dogs Luna, Dixie, and Shadow, who were his constant companions and brought him immense joy.

Those who knew JR would describe him as a loving individual who could light up a room with his presence. His friendly approach to life made him a cherished friend to many. His intelligence was evident in his thoughtful conversations and his problem-solving abilities, both at work and in his personal life.

JR's departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his spirit will continue to live on through the memories they hold dear. His laughter, kindness, and gentle soul will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
