Johnny Franklin Black, 88, of Simpsonville, SC, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026. Born in Thomasville, NC, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ophelia Black. He was predeceased by his siblings Thomas Lindsay, Ben Lindsay, Juanita Lindsay, and Joletha Black. Johnny served honorably in the US Air Force. 

Johnny worked in the Albany, NY area at Tobin Packing before becoming a plumber for NY State. After retiring, Johnny moved to South Carolina. Survived by his loving wife, Lena; his son Johnny Jr. (Shelly); his daughter Melanie; and his grandchildren Jasmine and Jason, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral and graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, July 24, 2026, at M. J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery, Anderson, South Carolina. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Reddy Fork Baptist Church, Simpsonville, SC, or St. Jude’s Children's Hospital.
