Listen to Obituary

Julie Seay Mattison, known lovingly to family and friends as Julie, passed away in Boiling Springs, South Carolina, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, love, and devotion that will be remembered always.

Born on February 21, 1980, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Julie brought warmth and gentle strength into the lives of those around her from the very beginning. She carried herself with a caring spirit and a thoughtful heart, and those who knew her quickly came to appreciate the sincerity and compassion that defined her. Throughout her life, Julie was the kind of person who made others feel seen, valued, and comforted simply by her presence.

Julie was a devoted mother whose greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her sons, Malachi Jamin Brooks, Julian Zane Bishop, and Warren Jasper Bishop, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Her deceased brother, James (Jamie) Mattison, and Andrew (Crystal) Mattison. Her late grandparents, Willard and Frances Blackwood Mattison, and Marvin and Sue Horton Seay. She loved her children deeply and took great pride in them, offering encouragement, support, and unconditional love throughout their lives. Her role as a mother was central to who she was, and she embraced it with tenderness, patience, and unwavering devotion. In addition to her immediate family, Julie leaves behind several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Julie is also survived by her mother, Susan Seay Mattison, who shared in her life’s joys and challenges and cherished their bond. She was preceded in death by her father, James Robert Mattison, whose memory remained an important part of her family’s story. The love of her family shaped Julie’s life, and she, in turn, gave that love back generously and without hesitation.  She was greatly loved by her family and will be missed by all.
