In Loving Memory of Karen Joy Hastings-Artzt January 23, 1960 – August 24, 2025

With grace, strength, and a heart full of love, Karen Joy Hastings-Artzt, 65, of Easley, South Carolina, peacefully passed away on August 24, 2025.

Born in Madison, Wisconsin, on January 23, 1960, to Kevin and Dorothy Hastings, Karen lived a life rich in meaning and memory. She devoted her brilliance to her work as a healthcare clinic manager, where her wisdom and compassion lifted countless lives.

Karen was a woman of many passions—she loved the beauty of a thriving garden, the thrill of cheering for her Dallas Cowboys, the comfort of a favorite TV show, and the wonder of traveling the world. Yet, above all, she treasured her family. To her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, she was the wisest, most patient, and most thoughtful “Grammy,” whose golden heart made every gathering brighter.

Her strength was unshakable, her will steadfast, her love unconditional. She was the anchor of her family, a source of laughter, guidance, and endless care. Karen is survived by her parents, Kevin and Dorothy Hastings; her brother Kevin (Jane), sister Erin (Charlie), and brother-in-law Mike; her children Nikolas (Lindsay), Ashley (Hill), Alexandra (Pedro), Britany (Trent), Kristen (Kevin), Erica (Alex), Clint (Allie), and Missy; her beloved grandchildren; Maxton, Emmerson, Sebastian, Brayden, Liam, Mercedes, Kadyn, Parker, Mason, Madison, Paxton, Memphis, Paislee, Knox, Noah, Lilah, Easton, Adrianna, Savannah, Gia, and Cole; and her great-grandchild, Asher; along with many nieces and nephews who adored her like a mother. She is reunited in peace with her husband, David Artzt, and her sister, Sharon (Hastings) Fillner.

A celebration of Karen’s life will be held at a later date.

Though her presence will be deeply missed, Karen’s spirit endures in the love she gave, the lessons she taught, and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
