Kathy Zahm, affectionately known as Nana by those closest to her, passed away on October 17, 2025, in Greenville, SC, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on July 8, 1958, Kathy's life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and unwavering faith.
Kathy's journey began as the cherished daughter of the late Samuel Roach and the late Evelyn Phillips. She grew up in a bustling household alongside her siblings, Debra Spaulding, Sharon Mann, Sammy Roach (Lillie), and the late Jerry Phillips, Randy Phillips, and Marty Roach. Kathy's life was enriched by the joys of family, a theme that would lovingly thread through every aspect of her years.
In her youth, Kathy's radiant personality and passionate heart led her to the love of her life, Larry G Zahm. Their union was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Krystal Leigh Gravely, and a son Russell Lee Zahm, who would go on to give Kathy the cherished title of Nana to six wonderful grandchildren: Kelsie, Emilee, Lyric, Rise, Creadance, and Heaven. Kathy's role as a homemaker was one she embraced with every fiber of her being, creating a warm and inviting home that was the backdrop to countless cherished memories.
Kathy's Christian faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's challenges and celebrations. She lived her beliefs through acts of kindness, a welcoming spirit, and an open heart to all who crossed her path.
A woman of many interests, Kathy found solace and joy in the simplicity of gardening and the tranquility of country life. Kathy's grandchildren were the recipients of her boundless love, as she poured into them the same passion and care that she gave to her plants.
Those who knew Kathy will remember her for her loving nature, her quick wit, and her passionate approach to life. She had the rare ability to light up a room with her humor and to make everyone feel like family. Her laughter was infectious, her counsel was sought after, and her presence was a comfort to many.
Kathy's legacy is one of love, laughter, and passion. She leaves behind a family that adores her, including her devoted husband, Larry; her loving son Russell; her supportive sisters, Debra and Sharon; her protective brother, Sammy; and her treasured grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews who will miss her deeply.
As we bid farewell to Kathy Zahm, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that will continue to inspire us. Her spirit, etched in the hearts of those she touched, will bloom like the flowers in her garden, a perpetual reminder of the love and beauty she brought into this world. Kathy's journey on earth has ended, but her story will be told for generations, through the lives of her family and the countless memories they will carry forward.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 1:00 PM, and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, at Cremation Society of SC - Westville Funerals, 6010 White Horse Rd, Greenville, SC 29611.
