Listen to Obituary

Greg Brown, 74, of Pauline, South Carolina, died peacefully on August 9, 2025. He is survived by his daughters, Clary Reich (Adam) of Pauline and Laurel Brown of Charlotte, NC; beloved grandchildren, Sydney, Kate, and AJ Reich; and his brother, Dexter Brown Bridges of Spartanburg.

Greg spent his career at RR Donnelley & Sons, retiring after many years of hard work and success. He was a true original–equal parts unfiltered wit and sage wisdom, devotion and hardheadedness, and was genuine to the core. He loved the good things in life: porch sitting at happy hour, a dirty joke told for shock value, the peace of country living, and the right amount of mischief from time to time. He had a rare gift with language—always ready with something hilarious and unexpected—and he never shied away from saying exactly what was on his mind. He always gave us plenty to talk about–and even more to love.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Susan, whom he missed fiercely after her passing; his parents, Ruth and Dean Brown; and his brother, Johnny Brown.

A memorial service and celebration of Greg’s life will be held on Thursday, September 4th at 5:30 pm at Gerhard’s Cafe. Friends and family are invited to come raise a glass, share a laugh, and remember a man who made life a little louder, a little funnier, and a lot more honest.
