Leland Sparks Samford, a U.S. Navy Veteran, passed away on March 13, 2026, in Marietta, South Carolina. Born on June 10, 1955, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Leland's life was marked by unwavering commitment to his country, family, and community.

Leland is lovingly remembered by his wife, Katrina Samford, who stood by his side as a steadfast partner through all of life’s seasons. He is also survived by his son, Jason Samford, and Jason's wife Sabrina, who cherished him deeply. His legacy lives on through his beloved grandchildren, Alexander, Ana, and Eli Samford, as well as his great-grandchildren, Faith, Emery, and Jase.

Among his surviving siblings are Richard Samford, Marvin Samford, and Raymond Samford, along with Raymond's wife, Cindy. 

Leland was preceded in death by his loving parents, Dorothy and Archie Marvin Samford, whose guidance and support shaped the foundation of his character. He was also mourned by his brother Michael Samford, whose memory remains dear.

Leland Sparks Samford’s life was one of devotion—to his nation, to his family, and to those who knew and loved him. Though he has left this world, the impact of his dedication, kindness, and strength will be remembered with respect and affection by all who had the privilege to know him.
