Lena Lathrop

Lena Lathrop, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, at the age of 92, in Greer, South Carolina. Born in Bay City, Michigan, Lena lived a life devoted to her family, her faith, and caring for others.

A homemaker with many talents, Lena was known for her skilled sewing, artistic cake decorating, and compassionate nature. Her hands were rarely still, always busy in service to others, whether through her garden, her needlework, or her warm hospitality.

She is survived by her children: William Jason Lathrop (Lisa), Marie Jane Willis (Doug), Matthew John Lathrop (Heather), and Selina Joan Dettloff (Gordon). She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Lena instilled in them the values of kindness, perseverance, and faith—principles they continue to live by.

Lena’s home was always welcoming and filled with love. Her joy in simple things, from crocheting to tending her deck garden, reflected her peaceful spirit. She had a gift for making others feel cared for and seen.

Lena will be remembered for her generous heart and unwavering faith. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the family she loved so deeply. She will be dearly missed and forever cherished.
