Leroy Calvin Jones, Jr., 84, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026, in his home in Greenville, South Carolina. He was born on December 26, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, to Leroy Calvin Jones Sr. and Lily Jones.

Leroy lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love for his family. He graduated at the top of his class and went on to serve his country in the United States Navy for 22 years. His years in the Navy reflected his strong sense of duty, discipline, and commitment, qualities that remained with him throughout his life. After his military service, he continued to work faithfully as a Postal Courier at the Post Office and later retired after 20 years of service with Taylors Postal Services.

In addition to his long and honorable career, Leroy was also an entrepreneur who owned and operated GLJones Heating & Air for 13 years. He took pride in his work and in the many ways he provided for those he loved. He was known for his intelligence, especially when it came to computers, and he enjoyed spending time learning, fixing, and working with them. He was a man who valued hard work and took great satisfaction in building a stable and loving life for his family.

Leroy was a joyful soul who loved to laugh and crack jokes. He was kind, funny, and friendly, and those who knew him will remember the warmth of his presence and the ease with which he made others feel welcome. He especially cherished time with his family and created lasting memories through fishing trips, camping adventures, and other shared activities. His love for his family was evident in all that he did, and he found great happiness in being surrounded by the people who meant the most to him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Glenda Jones; his two brothers, Albert Williams and Johnny Jones; and his son, Leroy Calvin Jones III. Though his passing leaves a deep void, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Leroy leaves behind his daughter, Beverly Johnson, and her husband, Kenneth Johnson; his sons, Mark E. Jones and Anita Butler, and Vincent L. Jones and his wife, Melonie Jones. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tiphanie L. Glenn and her husband, Sean E. Glenn, Tahishia Jones and Melvin Joe Moon, Mark E. Jones II, Murjani Davis and her husband, Acoreyaun Davis, Megan Gault and her husband, Malcolm Gault, Shavonne Workman and her husband, Zavion Workman, Vincenah Sierra Jones, Liberty Jones, Justice Jones, Vincent Spann, Jamale Spann, and Oliver Kellum, his stepson. He also leaves behind a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will carry forward his legacy of love, laughter, and strength.

Leroy Calvin Jones, Jr. will be remembered as a devoted veteran, a hardworking provider, and a man of great character. His life was a testament to perseverance, generosity, and devotion to family. His kind spirit, friendly nature, and sense of humor touched many lives, and his memory will be cherished always.
