Lynda Ward Sykes, 65, of Easley, South Carolina passed away on January 10, 2026. Lynda was born in Cottonwood, Alabama to the late Guy Ward and Myra Snell Ward.

Lynda received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Auburn University where she met and married her husband of 44 years, Carl. After the birth of her two daughters, Lynda earned a Doctor of Pharmacy from University of Florida. Earning this professional doctorate degree allowed her to practice and teach pharmacology for over 30 years at Greenville Hospital System - a PRISMA Health campus in Greenville, SC. Throughout her dedicated career, Lynda’s commitment to education, service of patients, and her expansive knowledge had a positive and lasting impact on those she worked with and shared her professional life.

Lynda was a member of First Baptist Church Greenville. She touched the lives of so many and will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, generosity, and love. Lynda’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishments were her family who brought her immense joy and much fulfillment. Some of her most cherished memories were spent at Carl & Lynda’s shared home on Lake Keowee, where together they entertained friends and family.

Lynda is survived by her husband, Carl Sykes of Easley, SC, daughter Laura Sykes (Jason) of Taylors, SC, grandchildren Frankie and Hudson Sykes, daughter Grace Sykes Von Kaenel (John) of Anderson, SC; brother James Fred Ward of Bentonville, AK, and sister Nancy W Dunston of Brevard, NC and predeceased by sister Susan Halstead of Midland, TX.
