Margie Irene Walker, known lovingly as Margie, passed away on July 5, 2026, in Greenwood, South Carolina, at the age of 84.
Born on September 4, 1941, in Anderson, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Eris B. and Lily Cain. Margie lived a life marked by devotion to her family, quiet strength, and a warm spirit that touched all who knew her. She was a loving, spirited, and generous woman whose presence brought comfort and joy to those around her.
Margie dedicated her life to her home and family as a homemaker, a role she embraced with pride and care. She found meaning in the simple, faithful rhythms of daily life and created a home filled with love, kindness, and welcome. Her family was the center of her world, and she gave of herself freely and wholeheartedly throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John M. Walker, and by her parents, Eris B. and Lily Cain. Though she experienced loss, she carried herself with grace and continued to be a source of love and encouragement to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She also leaves behind her granddaughter, Shelly Belknap and her husband Jonathan, and her grandsons, Steven Cain and his wife Jessica, and Travis Cain and his wife Lindsay. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Lily, Ada, Gabby, and Mason, each of whom brought her great pride and happiness.
Those who knew Margie will remember her for the many ways she made life brighter. She enjoyed gardening and took pleasure in tending to the beauty of growing things. She loved cooking and shared her care through meals prepared with thoughtfulness and love. One of her favorite places was the rocking chair on her front porch, where she could sit, rest, and enjoy the world around her. These simple joys reflected the peaceful and contented way she lived her life.
Margie will be remembered as a woman of deep love and enduring spirit. Her generosity was shown not only in what she gave, but in the way she made others feel valued and cared for. She had a gentle way about her that left a lasting impression, and her family and friends will carry her memory with them always.
Her life was a testament to faithfulness, family, and the beauty of a life well lived. Though she is no longer with us, the love she shared and the example she set will remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
