Marian Helene Kass died at age 86 on June 16, 2026, in Fountain Inn, South Carolina.
Marian was born in San Francisco, California, on April 4, 1940. Known as “Mimi” to close family and friends, she grew up with her parents, Nathan and Doris Barnett, and her brother Gerald. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1958.
Mimi carried out her life with a love for others and a passion for service. Outside of her work as an administrative assistant, Marian lovingly donated her time and talents, volunteering over 1,000 hours at John Muir Hospital. She was especially fond of cats who always brought a smile to her face, and spent many hours volunteering at a shelter. Along with this, she spent her free time crocheting and knitting beautiful clothing and blankets for children in need. Throughout her life, Mimi enjoyed reading countless books and playing mahjong with friends. She lived an active lifestyle, attending Pilates weekly. Marian cared deeply for her children and grandchildren and always enjoyed hearing their adventurous tales.
Marian is preceded by her parents and brother, as well as her aunt and uncle, Mel and Evie. She is survived by her son and daughter, Kevin Kass and Laurie Rabinowitz, and her four grandchildren.
Marian was beloved by her family, and she will be missed greatly.
