An avid sports fan, he loved the Gamecocks and the Atlanta Braves, and he enjoyed attending The Masters for many years. When his children began playing soccer, he discovered a love for coaching. For many years, he also loved being a part of the “chain gang” on the sidelines of Red Raider football games. He was a longtime church basketball coach.

The annual beach week with three generations of his family was a favorite tradition and many special weekends with his siblings. He loved a fun party and would dance the night away. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Penny, and his children and their spouses, Marion Worth Beacham III and his wife Laura, Elizabeth Beacham Lowery and her husband Lewis, and John Wells Beacham and his wife Meagan. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Anne Wells, Eliza and Emily Lowery, Worth IV, Legare, and Milly Beacham, and Wells Beacham Jr. He is survived by his siblings, Bryan Wertz Beacham and his wife Joy, Ann Beacham Martin, and David Miller Beacham and his wife Cyndi, sister-in-law Margaret Thaxton, many nieces and nephews, and a dear family friend Margaret Watson.
