Marvin Anderson, known to family and friends as Poppy, passed away on July 10, 2026, in Fountain Inn, South Carolina, at the age of 94.
Born on December 12, 1931, in Smithfield, West Virginia, Marvin lived a long and meaningful life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and quiet strength. He was a loving, friendly, and intelligent man whose presence brought comfort and steadiness to those around him. Marvin carried himself with humility and grace, and he was deeply respected by all who knew him.
Marvin proudly served his country as a United States Air Force veteran, a chapter of his life that reflected his sense of duty and commitment. Following his military service, he built a distinguished career as a Master Electrician. Through his work, he earned a reputation for skill, reliability, and integrity. He took pride in doing every job well, and his knowledge and craftsmanship were valued by many over the years.
Outside of work, Marvin found joy in the simple and enduring pleasures of life. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed gardening. Time spent outside brought him peace and satisfaction, and he appreciated the beauty of nature in all seasons. Whether tending to plants or simply enjoying the fresh air, he found happiness in the world around him.
Marvin was a devoted family man whose greatest pride was the love he shared with those closest to him. He is survived by his children, Cindi and Bob White, Melissa and Jim McKinney, Theresa “Toots” Anderson, David and Susan Anderson, and Mike and Leah Anderson. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Fisher and Ruth Carpenter; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. His family was the center of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He leaves behind a legacy of love, guidance, and steadfast support that will continue to live on through generations.
Those who knew Marvin will remember his warm smile, his kind heart, and the wisdom he shared so generously. He had a way of making others feel welcome and valued, and his friendly nature left a lasting impression. He was the kind of man who led by example, showing others the importance of honesty, perseverance, and compassion.
Marvin’s life was a testament to the values he held dear. He worked hard, loved deeply, and lived with purpose. His memory will be treasured by his family and friends, and his influence will remain in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Though he will be deeply missed, the love he gave and the life he lived will continue to be remembered with gratitude and affection.
