Mary Eloyse Henson Hammond, age 90, passed away on April 12, 2026, at National Healthcare of Greenville. She was born on November 8, 1935, in Augusta, Georgia. She was predeceased by her parents, Louie Fields Womble and Sarah Dunaway Womble Bond. She was raised in Georgia and lived in West Virginia and Virginia before settling in Greenville, SC, in 1965.

In addition to her roles as wife, mother, and grandmother, Eloyse held many jobs throughout her life. For many years, she was the proud owner of Mother’s Love Maternity shops in Greenville and Asheville. She was honored to own a business at a time when women-owned businesses were rare and to offer a service at a time when options were limited for expectant mothers. Eloyse sold her shop to retire, but retirement did not suit her. Instead, she rekindled one of her passion’s from the 1970s - homeopathic nutrition and medication- by working part-time at Garner’s Natural Life, much to the delight of the staff, who revered her vast knowledge. Over the years, she enjoyed sharing her expertise with customers, friends, and family.

Eloyse was a believer and follower of Christ, and she found great joy in daily bible reading, prayer, and in spiritual music, especially hymns. While Eloyse was devout throughout her life, her close relationship to the Lord especially sustained her in her struggles with Parkinson’s disease.

Eloyse is survived by sons Fred Henson(Lois), Tom Henson (Vicki), and Bruce Henson (Denise); daughter Ellen Blaisdell; grandchildren Vanessa Callaghan, Scott Henson, Melissa Kaiser, Chris Stepp, Katie Holliday, Tyler Henson; and ten great grandchildren. Eloyse was widowed twice, predeceased by her husband of thirty-four years, Fred Lee Henson, Sr., and then again by her second husband of sixteen years, Donald Leon Hammond. Eloyse also leaves behind two sisters, Patsy Livingston and Marty Maldonado (Lino) and a brother, Frank Bond. She was predeceased by brothers Sonny Bond and Jake Bond.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation,

Caris Healthcare (Hospice), or the charity of your choice.
