Mary Paula Gaudreau

Mary Paula Gaudreau, known lovingly as Mary, passed away on September 21, 2026, in Greenville, South Carolina, at the age of 74.

Born on June 4, 1952, in Northfield, Vermont, Mary lived a life marked by kindness, resilience, and devotion to the people she loved. She carried with her throughout her life the values of hard work, compassion, and quiet strength, and those who knew her will remember her as a thoughtful, spirited, and courageous woman whose presence brought comfort and warmth to others.

Mary spent a meaningful part of her professional life working for Greenville Hospital System as an insurance verifier. In that role, she was known for her dependability, her attention to detail, and her steady manner. She approached her work with care and integrity, and she took pride in helping others navigate important matters with patience and understanding. Her colleagues will remember her as someone who could be counted on, and whose calm and considerate nature made a lasting impression.

Outside of work, Mary found joy in the simple and enduring pleasures of life. She loved cooking, sewing, and horseback riding, and these interests reflected the creativity and spirit that were such an important part of who she was. Whether she was preparing a meal, creating something with her hands, or enjoying time around horses, Mary embraced each experience with enthusiasm and heart. Her hobbies were not only pastimes, but also expressions of the care and energy she brought to everything she did.

Family was central to Mary’s life, and she treasured the bonds she shared with those closest to her. She is survived by her son, Anthony Puglionesi, and her granddaughter, Elysa, both of whom held a special place in her heart. She also leaves behind her brothers, Thomas Gaudreau, Stephen Gaudreau, and David Gaudreau.  Mary is also remembered with love by her nephews, Brian Gaudreau (his daughter Chianne) and Levi Navaro, along with many nieces and nephews whose lives were touched by her presence and affection. She is further survived by her aunt, Betty Anderson, whose connection to Mary was part of the family ties she held dear.

Mary’s life was enriched by the relationships she nurtured and the example she set for others. She was thoughtful in her words, spirited in her outlook, and courageous in the face of life’s challenges. These qualities were evident not only in the way she cared for her family and friends, but also in the way she carried herself through each season of life. She met the world with grace and determination, and her memory will remain a source of strength to those who loved her.
