Mary Jane Kay, affectionately known as Jane Kay, passed away on August 9th, 2024, in her hometown of Greenville, SC. She was born on September 18, 1953. Jane's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, family, and hard work. Her radiant spirit and unwavering kindness left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
Jane was the beloved daughter of the late Harold Ledford and Patsy Maddy. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Wayne Kay, and a cherished mother to her daughter, Crista Nix, and her son, Micah. Jane's legacy continues through her son, Mark Nix, and his fiancée, Katie. She was a loving sister to her late siblings, Betty Jane McCuen, Bobby Ledford, and Billy Pick, and is survived by her siblings Rebecca "Becky" Brown, Terry Watson, Cindy Campbell, Kathy Carmen, Tammy Sanford, Tracy Raasch and Michael Pick. Jane's family circle was vast, including 10 nephews, 9 nieces, 25 great-nephews and nieces, and 3 great-great-nephews and nieces. She now joins her two angelic grandbabies, JoJo and Joanna, in heaven.
Jane always said her greatest achievements were her children and grandchildren, whom she loved with every fiber of her being. Jane worked in the mills all her life, but her work ethic was matched only by her generosity and her unwavering commitment to her family.
A lover of the outdoors, Jane found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She relished the time spent with family and friends, embracing every moment with a warm smile and an open heart.
Kind, loving, and generous—these words encapsulate the essence of Jane Kay. She was a beacon of light in her community, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement. Her kindness extended beyond her immediate circle, touching the lives of many through her involvement in various associations and community events.
Jane's love for her family was her guiding force, and she instilled in them the values of compassion, resilience, and joy. Her presence was a comfort, her laughter a melody, and her advice a treasure that her loved ones will carry with them always.
As we bid farewell to Jane Kay, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy of love that will continue to flourish in the lives of those she touched. Her spirit will forever be a part of the fabric of Greenville, and her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
