Michael T. Hughes

Michael T. Hughes, a man of the skies and a beacon of joy on the ground, passed away on August 21, 2025, in South Carolina. Born on May 7, 1962, in New Jersey, Michael's life was a journey of passion, laughter, and generosity that touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Michael's early years in New Jersey were filled with the love and laughter that would become his hallmark. His warm presence and quick wit made him a beloved figure in his community. As he grew, so did his dreams, and Michael's aspirations took flight when he became a pilot, a career that allowed him to soar above the clouds and see the world from a perspective few are privileged to experience. Michael was an employee of Stevens Aerospace in Greenville, SC for 28 years. He was known for his strong work ethic and being a loyal employee. He truly loved his job. 

Away from the cockpit, Michael was known for his eclectic interests and his collection of antiques and jukeboxes. His home was a treasure trove of nostalgia, each piece carefully selected and lovingly maintained. Michael's musical talent was another source of joy for him and those around him. His guitar playing was a common delight at family gatherings, where his renditions of classic tunes would often turn into sing-alongs.

Michael's nephews, David and Sean Carlson, will remember their uncle as a man who lived life to the fullest, who taught them to appreciate the simple pleasures and to face each day with a smile. His loving nature, his sense of humor, and his generosity were the words that best described him, and these qualities will live on in the memories of his family and friends.

As we bid farewell to Michael T. Hughes, we celebrate a life well-lived, a sky well-flown, and a legacy of love and laughter that will continue to inspire us all.
