Michael “Robert” Wright, known to many simply as Robert, passed away on July 16, 2026, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, at the age of 66. He was born on January 4, 1960, in High Point, North Carolina, and lived a life marked by devotion, hard work, and a deep love for the people around him.

Robert was a loving, selfless, and friendly man whose presence brought comfort and warmth to family and friends alike. He was the kind of person who showed up when he was needed, offered help without hesitation, and made lasting memories with those fortunate enough to know him. His life was centered on family, friendship, and the simple joys that meant the most to him.

He worked as an owner and operator truck driver, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and determination. Robert also served his community as a volunteer firefighter, answering the call to help others with courage and commitment. In addition, he was involved in wrestling as a manager and referee, where his dedication and enthusiasm left a lasting impression on many. Whether he was working, volunteering, or supporting others, Robert gave his best in all that he did.

Robert found joy in racing, fishing, trucking, spending time with family, watching westerns, and following wrestling. These interests were more than pastimes to him, as they were part of the life he built and the memories he cherished. He especially valued time spent with loved ones, and those moments became treasured stories that will be remembered for years to come.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Geneva Hogien Wright and Ray Wright, and by his siblings, Wanda Reece and Susan Ragel. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Arabella Wright. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Robert is survived by his children, Perry Wright and Kacey, Ben Wright and Destiny, Michelle Amburgey, and Donald “Shorty” Wright and Sherry. He is also survived by his longtime fiancée of 21 years, Christy Moore, who shared in many years of love, companionship, and devotion. He leaves behind a large and loving family of grandchildren, including Khloe, Hannah, Aria, Anapaige, Jaiden, Isaiah, Marlee, Elizabeth, and Michael Wright. He is also survived by Tonya Wright Profitt and Manon, Zack Profitt, Layla, Raelynn, Oliva, Nathaniel Profitt, Jeremiah, Geneva Profitt, Kyle Profitt, Kayson, Donald Wright, Jr., Aden Wright, Tracy Owens, Brittany Owens, Chandler Owens, and Lilly, along with extended family members who held a special place in his life.

Robert will also be remembered by his friends Brian Cummings, Dustin Bragg, Keith Keller, Bobby Diamond, Jerry Bragg, and Rhonda Clippard, all of whom shared in his life and knew the kindness and loyalty he offered so freely. His friendships were built on trust, laughter, and the kind of steady support that defined who he was.

Those who knew Robert will remember a man who loved deeply, worked hard, and lived with a generous spirit. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the friendships he formed, and the many lives he touched through his kindness and example. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will remain a source of comfort and strength to all who loved him.
