Listen to Obituary

Mildred Elizabeth Gamble Davis was born February 22, 1949 in Greenville, South Carolina to Demorris and Ethel Gamble. She went home to be with the Lord on the evening of July 22, 2025.

Mildred was affectionately known by most as “Mickey.”

Mickey was preceded in death by both parents and two siblings: brother, Larry and sister, Patricia Ann Gamble McLaughlin.

Mickey was raised in Powdersville in the house that was built by her father sometime in the 1960s. She attended Sterling High School and Morris College. She worked at Fluor (Daniel) as the maintenance manager for many years before her retirement.

Mickey always spent her time surrounded by children. For years, she enjoyed traveling to Delaware with her dear friend and in-law, Anne Wilkinson, to visit her daughter and grandchildren. In the remaining years of her life, she resided at Brookstone Terrace of Woodruff, an assisted living facility. There she was able to enjoy the last year of her life in a warm and welcoming community of wonderful staff and residents whom she treasured.

Mickey is survived by her daughter, Kenya Davis Wilkinson; other sister, Cathy Jones-Smith; her aunt, Jeannette Cunningham; three grandchildren: Xavier Kelly, Breyton Kelly, and Savannah Wilkinson (Jose Perez); three great-grandchildren: Khristina, Kaliyah, and Amari Kelly; wards: Shimone (Thomas) Williams, Leonard Harrison, and Jeremy Edwards as well as a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Private interment with family. The celebration of Mildred’s life will be held at Aldersgate United Methodist Church located at 7 Shannon Drive, Greenville, SC 29615 on Friday, August 15th, from 3-6 pm.
