Nancy Berryhill Cranford, a beacon of love and courage, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025, in Greenville, SC, at the age of 80. Born on April 4, 1945, Nancy's life was a testament to the power of kindness, wisdom, and the enduring strength of family bonds.
Nancy's journey began as a cherished daughter to the late Jasper Carl Berryhill and Hazel Lou Gosnell and sister to Jean Kendell and Sonjia Watson, and as she grew, her heart expanded to embrace her beloved husband, Buddy Cranford Sr., who predeceased her. Together, they built a life filled with joy and laughter, a legacy carried on by their loving children, Pamela Olstein, Scot Cranford, and his wife Fran, and Billy Cranford, and his wife Debbie. Nancy's spirit will forever be reflected in the lives of her grand and great-grandchildren, as well as the many nieces and nephews who adored their aunt.
A matriarch in the truest sense, Nancy was the cook of the family, an artist in the kitchen, and a hostess who brought everyone together around her table. Her culinary skills were only matched by her talent for sewing, a craft she approached with the same love and attention to detail that she gave to every aspect of her life. Nancy's hands were rarely still, always busy creating, caring, and providing for those she loved.
Lake Hartwell and Lake Greenwood were her sanctuaries, places where she found peace and shared her passion for the outdoors with her family. The memories made on those serene shores will be cherished by her family for generations to come.
Nancy was a mama not just to her own children but to everyone around her. Her nurturing spirit knew no bounds, and her home was a haven for anyone in need of comfort or care. She was the embodiment of love, touching the lives of all who knew her with her warmth and generosity.
Her courage was quiet but formidable, guiding her through life's challenges with grace and resilience. Nancy's wisdom was sought by many, for she had a way of seeing through life's complexities and finding the simple truths that bind us all.
As we bid farewell to Nancy Berryhill Cranford, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy of love that will continue to inspire us all. Her memory will be a guiding light, a reminder of the strength of family, the joy of togetherness, and the beauty of a life dedicated to others. Nancy's presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
