Paul Arthur Goldwasser, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on February 16, 2026, in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Born on April 14, 1947, in New York City, Paul was the cherished son of Hyam and Bess Goldwasser, who preceded him in death.

A graduate of Columbia University, Paul went on to earn his degree in Architecture from the City College of New York. In his professional career, Paul found passion as an architect, serving as the building architect for the Citi Corp building. He was equally passionate serving as the primary caretaker (a.k.a. “Mr. Mom”) of his sons, Ben Goldwasser, PsyD, and Seth Goldwasser, PhD (Alison Springle, PhD). He loved animals and taking care of them as well, adopting cats, a Cockatoo, rabbits, and dogs as pets over his lifetime.

Throughout his life, Paul exemplified love and dedication, particularly as a father to his sons. He provided them guidance, support, and unwavering love. His legacy continues through his granddaughter, Iris Elianna Apolline Springle, whose birth and playful presence brought immense joy to his life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marcia Suval, MD, who stood by his side throughout their journey together and shared his passions and pursuits.

Paul had a wide array of interests and hobbies that showcased his multifaceted character. He was an avid artist, finding joy in drawing, sculpture, Palladian architecture, and jigsaw puzzles. His love for classical music, the Rolling Stones, Billy Joel, and Elton John provided a soundtrack to his life, while his fondness for reading allowed him to explore the world of politics and fiction through the pages of British mysteries, The New York Times, and The Washington Post. A devoted sports fan, he followed the New York and San Francisco Giants and spent many happy moments playing tennis with his sons and watching matches between legendary players like Federer and Nadal. He also held a deep appreciation for classic comedy shows and satire, often bringing laughter to those around him with his quick wit and humor.
