Remembering Paula

Paula Leslie Gross, formerly of Ocala and Hialeah, Florida came to live with her sister, Roberta Rensen, in Greenville, South Carolina in March 2022. Dozens of family members and friends gathered for a Song Fest for her final shared praise of Christ and to honor her while still living. Paula was a devout believer in Jesus but maintained her Jewishness.

Paula grew up in Hialeah, Florida attending Meadowlane Elementary, Filer Jr. High and Hialeah High School. She attended the University of Florida in Gainesville but transferred and graduated from Appalachian State College in Boone, NC with a degree in Psychology.

Paula loved her job as an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher in Broward County and as a mental health counselor at Lowell’s Women’s Prison in Ocala, Florida as presenter for an early release program.

Paula left behind her sister, brother, cousins, nieces and nephews, and her friend Eileen Vucelich who resided in Ocala.

Paula was sensitive, sweet and caring. Please share your memories, though there may have been little contact, Paula fondly remembered many High School and College friends.

Paula was brave and endured a lot of pain at the end of her fight with Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors. She passed away in November 2022. Please donate in her memory to the American Cancer Society, Hope Lodge, the Rose Society of Ocala FL, or any Children’s causes.
