Peggy Anne Henson Chambers, beloved Nanny, Mama, Wife, Sister, Girl Scout, Seamstress, and Nurse, left us Sunday morning, April 19, 2026. Peg was Sugar Babe to Joe Chambers for 45 years. She was the daughter of the late Eva Anne Coleman Henson and Tom “Buddy” Henson. Peg trained at Greenville General Hospital School of Nursing and was a nurse for more than 40 years. She ended her nursing career at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

One of her many passions was sewing. She was an incredible dress, Halloween costume, and quilt maker. She loved to smock, crochet, and embroider. She loved crafting, making baskets, and working with wire and beads. She was a member of the SAGA Palmetto Pleaters Sewing Guild for several years.

Peg was an incredible cook and baker. Her specialties included banana pudding, lasagna, Brunswick Stew, hot fudge cake, shrimp and grits, pound cake, and chili. Anyone who ever tasted her cooking knows she was unparalleled.

Peg was a lifelong member of the Girl Scouts of the USA. She was a scout, a leader, a service unit leader, a cookie coordinator, and an event coordinator. She loved being a Girl Scout and passed that love on to her daughters, nephew, and granddaughter. She enjoyed singing Girl Scout songs, making SWAPS, camping, running day camps, teaching classes, and selling cookies. She was a Girl Scout through and through.

Peg leaves behind her husband Joe, her daughters Jessie Chambers and Jena (Joe) Taylor, grandchildren, Kinsley Shepherd, Jamison Wright, Felix Taylor, Edith Taylor, sisters Linda Ray and Patti (Mike) Harris, special family members Kat (Clint) Ray, Heidi (Shannon) Sabol, Minnie Motley, Diane and Leann Fant, and countless family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and brother Tommy Henson and sister Joye Henson. The family wishes to extend special thanks and gratitude to Donna and Melinda of Cresent Hospice and Sharon Barthelmes at Piedmont Family Practice.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on May 16, 2026 at 1 pm at the Chamberosa, Pelzer, SC. In lieu of flowers, Peg asked that donations be made to the Girl Scouts of the USA – Mountains to Midlands or Cresent Hospice, 305 W. Beltline Dr. Anderson, SC 29625.

With her passing, Peg leaves her legacy of great meals, good laughs and the life philosophy, “It will be there when you get to it.”
