Peter Hubbard, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025 at The Woodlands at Furman in Greenville, South Carolina after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. His life was defined by curiosity, kindness, a wry sense of humor, a mischievous twinkle in his eye and a love for his family that knew no bounds.

Peter was born on December 13, 1942 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Robert and Janet Haller Hubbard. His dear grandmother Florence and her husband Sidney were profoundly influential in his life and taught him the value of hard work, proper manners, a good education and generosity.

He graduated from Milwaukee University School in 1960 and from there attended Princeton University from 1960-1964. At Princeton, he was a member of The Tiger Inn eating club and the varsity rowing team. He continued to be an engaged alumnus attending multiple reunions, most recently his 60th in 2024.Following graduation, Peter joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in San Diego. He was a true patriot and a decorated Naval Officer who was honorably discharged after serving proudly on the Destroyer USS Stoddard (DD-566).

It was in San Diego that Pete met a local school teacher, Judy Glass, at The Beachcomber bar in Mission Beach which started their 57 year love story. They were married in September of 1968 and started their life together in Los Angeles.

Peter had a successful career in Sales/Marketing that began at Flying Tiger Line, where many lifelong dear friendships were made. Following Flying Tigers, Pete and Judy moved their family back to the midwest and settled in Cincinnati, OH where Peter finished his career with the Ohio River Company. His career afforded him and Judy the opportunity to travel around the globe, but Peter was happiest at home with his family,friends and countless Golden Retrievers.

Peter and Judy retired to Seabrook Island, SC. Peter had a deep faith that guided his decisions and he spent much of his retirement volunteering his time and energy in leadership positions at his church and at Habitat for Humanity.

Peter is survived by his loving wife, Judy Hubbard; his devoted children, Chris Hubbard (Patricia) and Hillary Pavia; and his most adored grandchildren who were the joy of his life, Matthew Pavia, Jack Pavia, Carter Pavia, Sydney Hubbard and Owen Hubbard. He is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Susan Hubbard Belt. 

While we will deeply miss him, we carry many lessons and traits from him as a sign of his enduring love and influence. The family would like to express our gratitude to the staff at The Woodlands at Furman, in particular those working in the Skilled Nursing Facility, who so compassionately cared for him during his illness and added a little joy each day to his life.
