Raymond E. Fletcher, known affectionately as Ray by his friends and family, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025, in Spartanburg, SC. Born on November 23, 1942, in Sistersville, WV, Ray's journey through life was marked by his adventurous spirit, keen intelligence, and analytical mind.
Family was the cornerstone of Ray's life. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Glenna T. Fletcher, and a cherished father to his daughters, Jackie Forrester and Ashie (Borna) Obradovic. Ray's legacy continued through his granddaughters, Kristina (Chris Catoe) and Kourtney (David) Schuette, and his great-grandchildren, Rayleigh Catoe, Asher and Harrison Schuette. His family brought him immeasurable happiness, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and milestones.
Ray was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Maxine Placer and Grandmother Emma Placer. His memory will be held dear by those who were fortunate enough to know him and be touched by his kindness, wisdom, and adventurous spirit.
Ray was a man of many talents and accomplishments. After earning his Bachelor's degree from Middle Tennessee, he went on to establish a successful career that spanned several industries. As a Chemical Engineer, General Contractor, Retail Business Owner, Master Plumber, Ray not only excelled in his professional endeavors but also made a lasting impact as a multi-business owner. His work ethic and dedication to his craft were unparalleled, and his contributions to the field were significant and enduring.
Beyond his professional life, Ray was deeply committed to his community. He was an active member of the Central Church of Christ, where he found great joy and fulfillment in his faith and fellowship. Ray's heart for service was evident in his dedication to helping the less fortunate, a testament to his compassionate and generous nature.
Ray's zest for life extended to his interests as well. He was a prior member of the R&B Shag Club, where he indulged his passion for dancing. Those who knew him will fondly remember his grace on the dance floor and how his love for music and movement brought joy to those around him.
Raymond E. Fletcher's life was a tapestry of hard work, perseverance, and determination. As we remember Ray, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man who was truly one of a kind. His legacy will continue to inspire and influence all who were part of his remarkable journey. The family will have a celebration of life service on June 21, 2025 at 1PM at Central Church of Christ located at 2052 N Church St. Pl. Spartanburg, SC 29303.
