Raymond Trimmer, a devoted husband, stepfather, physicist, and educator, passed away on April 19, 2026. Born on April 25, 1939, Ray’s life was marked by service to others, artistic passion, and a steadfast commitment to those he loved.
A proud alumni of Juniata College (PA) and the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, Ray earned his bachelor's and master’s degree with distinction. His career was a testament to his brilliant mind and generous spirit, including his significant contributions at the Maryland Science Center and NASA.
Ray’s personality was warm and inviting and he had a wonderful laugh. Described by those who knew him as loving, kind, friendly, and generous, he put others first and found joy in giving. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ray spent weekends with his late wife preparing sandwiches for Beans and Bread, supporting individuals in Baltimore experiening homelessness. Both he and his late wife were very dedicated to those in need. Ray also embraced his artistic side later in life, creating intricate sculptures from metal that spoke to his creativity and skill. His love of motorcycles added a touch of adventure to his character, embodying both freedom and focus. And all those who knew him knows that he was a passionate Steelers fan, he enjoyed following the team's success.
Raymond is survived by his cherished daughters and grandchildren who carry forward his legacy of love and service to others. His daughters Erika Lee (Nestor) Hamel, Katherine Rose Jones, Janine Golden, and Juli Reece remain pillars of his enduring heritage. He also leaves behind beloved grandchildren Lukas Ontario Nestor, Samuel Raymond Nestor, Brianna Skye Jones and Kyle Austin Jones, along with great-grandchildren Kaleb Alexander Jones and Xavier Anthony Jones.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and best friend, Barbara Lee Trimmer, whose memory lives on in the hearts of the family she lovingly nurtured alongside Ray.
Ray Trimmer’s life was a rich tapestry woven from dedication to serve others, creativity, and enduring love. His legacy will continue to inspire through the lives he touched both personally and professionally. He will be remembered not only for his achievements but equally for the depth of his kindness and the warmth he shared.
The world has lost a remarkable man whose legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends. May his memory be a blessing and his spirit find eternal peace.
